Masters Of Menu

Masters Of MenuThe last year has been a massive one for Menu Magazine, as we have taken on more projects than ever before. Last issue was our 10th issue as a publication, while our website West Coast Cafes celebrated its 10th year. We also released a compilation album featuring West Australian artists titled Menu Music – The album has been given to radio stations, DJ’s and Venues across the state, and has been very well received.
However, the most daring project we undertook has also been one of our most successful to date; namely our Masters of Menu Recipe Book.

The Masters of Menu Recipe Book contains recipes from cafes, restaurants and pubs we have had the privilege to review over the past 10 years. The book boasts some of W.A’s best and brightest culinary maestros, allowing you to sample your favourite dishes in the comfort of your own home. If that wasn’t enough however, Menu Magazine’s publisher Scott Arnold-Eyers has committed 100% of the profits to Cystic Fibrosis Western Australia (CFWA).

The reason Scott chose to support such a fantastic cause is this;
“In 2008 my wife gave birth to a beautiful girl named Jade. Shortly after her birth she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and since then we have done what we can to help raise money for this cause, but it has only resulted in small donations. So we decided that all profits from this book would be donated to helping those with Cystic Fibrosis,” Scott explained.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common life threatening, recessive genetic condition affecting Australian children. It is a genetic disease that affects a number of organs in the body, especially the lungs and pancreas. CF causes the build-up of thick, sticky mucus, which cause breathing difficulties and digestive problems. Repeated infections and blockages are common and can lead to death.
For a child to be diagnosed with CF, both parents must be carriers of the gene. According to the Cystic Fibrosis website, 1 in 25 people with Caucasian descent have CF (usually without them knowing it). This doesn’t mean that your child will get CF, although there is a 25% chance that they will contract the disease, and 50% chance they will be carriers of the gene.

There is still no cure for CF, however doctors and scientists have managed to isolate the faulty gene that causes it, and there have been vast improvements to the treatment of CF. Living with CF is difficult but not impossible, and CFWA needs all the help it can get to ensure that those living with CF have a quality lifestyle.

A huge thank-you goes out to those involved, especially to the chefs and celebrity personalities who got behind this cause and made it such a success.
